Dr. Cynthia Johnson is the Director of Pinellas County Economic Development.  Since 2000, she has been a leader in the organization, serving as Division Director of Business Assistance from 2001 to 2021, managing the department’s entrepreneurial and small business assistance and development initiatives. As a trusted advisor to businesses large and small, government agencies, policymakers, and community leaders throughout Florida, she has built her career around the diverse and inclusive interconnected aspects of economic development.  She advocates for public policies and business practices that promote inclusion and marketplace diversity.  

 

 

Tom is responsible for business development of new and expanding office, technology, and industrial related businesses and parks. His responsibilities also include coordinating strategies to support economic development efforts in targeted areas, including, confidential site analysis, regulatory assistance, compiling location data and incentive programs. Tom holds a B.A. in Communication Management from the University of Dayton.

 

 

As the Senior Vice President of Business Development, Steve Morey is responsible for directing the EDC’s Business Development Activities including domestic and international business recruitment strategies, and business retention and expansion programs.

Steve has been in the Economic Development Industry for more than 10 years in both Florida and the Midwest. Utilizing his knowledge and experience, Steve showcases the Tampa Bay region as a great place to work and live to site selectors, CEOs and other decision-makers.

Prior to Economic Development, Steve enjoyed a successful career in banking and commercial finance, serving in various roles for Transamerica, Deutsche Bank, and National City Corporation. He earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio University and his MBA from Cleveland State University. Steve has held several leadership and board positions at the state, regional, and local levels.

Steve lives with his wife and two daughters in Carrollwood Village. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys volunteer roles in youth sports in Hillsborough County.
