Carlos J. Alfonso, i
s a founding principal and CEO of both Alfonso Architects and Allian
t Partners, a real estate investment company.
Carlos was born in Cuba
and came with his family to Tampa, Florida in 1960. He is a graduate of Je
suit High School in Tampa and received his bachelor and master’s degree in
architecture from the University of Florida, and is a distinguished Alumni
of the UF School of Architecture.
Mr. Alfonso was a founding, 11-year
member of the University of Florida Board of Trustees, and concluded his se
rvice as Chairman of that Board in 2011 and 2012. In addition, Mr. Alfonso
served on the State of Florida’s Constitution Revision Commission in 1998.
During that service, he was Chairman of the Committee on Article 4, which
modified the Executive Branch of the State Constitution. That committee r
estructured the Florida Cabinet, created the FWC and created Florida Foreve
r which was approved subsequently by Florida voters.
He currently serv
es as a Trustee of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer & Research Institute, is a
member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Council of 100 and serves
as Chairman of the University of Florida Online Advisory Board for State of
Florida’s Online Baccalaureate University. Carlos is a registered architec
t in 14 states and has been a Florida registered class A General Contractor
. He is a commercial multi-engine, instrument rated pilot. He and his wife
, Dorothy, have three children.

< p>Mosaic Streamsong Lodge Resort & Golf Club, Polk County, Florid aThe 16,000 acre property located between Orlando and T ampa is formerly mined phosphate land owned and developed by The Mosaic Com pany, the world’s leading producer and marketer of phosphate-based crop nut rients. Components include a 300,000 sq. ft resort, with 216 rooms in the m ain lodge, 12 rooms in the golf clubhouse, a full service spa, three restau rants, and 20,000 sq. ft of public meeting space.
CAMLS (Center for Advanced Learning and Medical Simulation), Tampa, Florida
Development Services for The University of South Florida in t he off-campus development of a 75,000 sq. ft. Center for Advanced Medical L earning and Simulation by researching numerous sites adjacent to area Hotel s in the Tampa Bay region and working with capable landowners to develop th e CAMLS facility and an adjacent 4 star hotel.
Trump Hot el, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
Represented CBRE Investments International on an $80 million existing conversion of a distressed Hotel Condo project to a conventional Hotel. Work included development assessment schematic design, estimating, scheduling, permit assessment and logistics for all phases of the $15 million additional redevelopment plan.
Embassy Suites Hotel, Naples, Florida
$42 milli on, 160 room Hotel on the Cocohatchee River. Amenities such as 5,000 sq. f t. of meeting space/banquet hall, boat docks, rooftop bar and restaurant to serve its guests. Responsibilities include land acquisition, entitlements , franchise license, scheduling and financing.
Monte Lau ro, Brevard, North Carolina
Master Planner and Developme nt Director for a 900 acre Italian themed branded community with Authoress Frances Mayes, writer of the acclaimed book
“Under the Tus can Sun”. The project involved the dev elopment of a luxury 200 room Five Star Hotel, a 28,000 sq. ft. retail town center, 910 housing units, an 18 hole golf course, luxury tennis and multi ple additional recreational functions. Responsibilities comprised all land acquisition entitlement, underwriting, scheduling, and obtainment of insti tutional financing as well as architectural design.
Park Slope Shoppes, Brooklyn, New York
All Planning and Deve lopment Services for a 43,000 sq. ft. Urban New York City Retail and Office Development which included a CVS Drugstore, New York Sports Club and Astor ia Federal Savings and Loan. Project was under Development and Constructio n half-mile from Ground Zero in September 2001. Responsibilities included l and acquisition and Development, for 5 existing parcels (4 containing exist ing buildings that were reused); all entitlements with City of New York, Fi nancing and Project Management. Project Partner was The Sembler Company. span>
